86 power window question
passenger side window will not work. removed door panel and tested with test light. The switch has a blue wire which I have determined as power supply, two yellow and two red wires. When I press the switch to make window go down both yellow wires get power, when I try to go up just one yellow wire gets power. I am assuming the red wires come from the drivers master switch. My thinking is if switch has gone bad and it puts power to both up and down at same time window will not move and since window is up when hit switch to go up nothing happens cause window is up. Any help would be appreciated

thank you Gary, after I asked the question I went back out and did more testing. I finally had someone show up who could push on master switch as I test lighted on the passenger door. Then pulled switches and did continuity test on both switches. The master switch tested bad and also after a closer visual inspection I can see where it did a little melting so I definitely need a master switch. Your page confirmed the conclusion to what I suspected. Again thanks

If you need help knowing how to replace the window motors, I did a write-up on how to do that:

I have similar window switch issues. I'm making new door panels though, and intend to use aftermarket PW switches. What would be needed to satisfy the operation of the circuit(s) since they work on a polarity/reverse polarity operation? The switches I planned to use are just normal 5 terminal SPST(up/down) rocker switches. Is there a relay I can use to make the circuits function properly?
