That's a very good price if the work was done right. Most any of us would want that. Are these Ford rebuilt heads? I would think all seals, seats and valves were replaced if so. You said cups so I didn't mention that.

All the machine work was done by a local shop, I can visit them at anytime to ask questions. I'll go and give the block a visual inspection this weekend to see what I might be dealing with.

FTE give me confidence that I can do this. I'll need to pull out my ford manuals and give them a read. Is there an online service I can join that will have the manual in digital format? I like to read at work and the ford books are larger then my work laptop.

The only downside I see is that since you didn't disassemble it that you are not familiar with the nuts and bolts. I used several bolt buckets, one for each stage of engine disassembly to prevent confusion of parts and to prevent those extra bolts at the end of the show.
Whenever I do my own I use a lot of Ziploc bags and label EVERYTHING! Makes reassembling less of a headache, lots more fun

Make sure you have all the required tools, and most importantly an engine hoist (crane) and stand! Work smarter not harder.

Is the thing clean? Most likely no, CLEAN it again as you go through the process!!

And most importantly RTFM, be sure you understand what your doing!!

Definitely that..

Very. Good. Calibrated. Torque. Wrench.

Plastigauge is your friend.

Assembly lube is cheap...

Is it clean enough before final assembly? No... it isnt... clean it again.

I say give it a go. Building an engine with the appropriate peripherals sized and supplied is just a sequenced assembly.

Every hour you spend on it will get it closer to getting finished, and will give you another hour of experience building an engine.
How do I make sure my torque wrench is accurate ? Can it be recalibrated or if it's outta whack is it time for a new one, mine's kinda old but sentimental
