10,009 mile oil sample with bypass oil filter
The oil was rotella 10W-30. This oil sample had a brand new bypass oil filter. This was the 2nd filter.
I believe part of the oil's success in the ware factor is from a brand new bypass filter.
amsoil 90 filter, NUC bypass filter mount and NUC OEM oil filter.
On the 07/09/2012 test (mobil 5w-40), the oil was changed and the amsoil filter was changed when the sample was taken. There was 6% fuel in it. Very odd and surprising....
On the 08/14/2012 test (rotella 10w-30), the oil was sampled but not changed at only 3,586 miles.
This was to see if there was still fuel in the oil with the belief that the 07/09/2012 test was accurate.
As you can see in the attachment, there was no fuel what so ever
I went all the way to 10,009 miles on the same oil.
I changed the oil when the sample was taken to rotella 5w-40. I will be going 12,000 miles.
I previously did not like the 10w-30 because I do not believe that rotella diesel oil is as good as mobil 1 diesel oil. This test proved me wrong.

Those are fantastic results for sure.
My experience with my old 2005 and a fleet of trucks is dino (15W40 and 10W30) is pretty well toast in a hard towing/ hauling engine at around 3000 miles.
5W40 was good to 5000 and didn't push it much over that.
No experience with the newer T5 10W30, but I was actually going to give it a try for my next oil change in my 2006.
It wasn't so much the wear metals that were bad but the TBN and viscosity at the 3000 and 5000 mile intervals.

Hello there ... very informative forum...
I have a 2006 F250 SuperDuty with a 6.0
I just acquired this truck at 88,000 miles and it runs great...
I just today changed oil with Rotella 5-40 synthetic... how many miles before I change it again? I like to be on the conservative side\Live in San Diego and don't tow but about 4 times a year when we haul my boat out of the slip...

This report is basically the same as the last 7 or 8 using this viscosity/brand, although this is my first run of the CJ-4 formula, all of the previous runs were CI-4. Wear numbers are staying in check and my driving style/use of the truck hasn't changed. Its my work truck as it hauls weight down the highway through the heat of the summer.

I currently have about 170,000 mi. on my truck running the same weight/brand at 7,500 oil change intervals with very predictable UOA's.
