need some trans advice
I have the 2000 f350 SD and the OD went out about 2 months ago.. I was able to drive it in drive with no problems until the other day. I was going about 50mph and all the sudden the truck ;lost it's momentum and had no drive left. I pulled the transfer case and tranny and took the oil pan off. What should the next step be?? any Ideas on what could have gone out

People usually purchase a upgraded valve body from John Woods or Brian's Truck Stop or BTS. If BTS rebuilds it.....they will give a lifetime warranty and it is close to 5000$ Sorry to hear about your issue. Where are you located. John Woods is mostly West coast and BTS is East coast.

[QUOTE=Mark Kovalsky;12469311]Something mechanical broke inside the trans. If it were still in the truck I could help diagnose what broke, but no matter what it is the answer is the same. It has to be rebuilt or replaced. A new valve body isn't going to help at all.[/
what info do you need. I can. probably give the answerQUOTE]

Yes, tear the trans down. It should be obvious what's wrong.
Diagnosing this in the truck would have really been an academic question anyway. No matter what the diagnosis was the solution is take the trans out, tear it down, and rebuild it. Something mechanical broke inside. Does it really matter WHAT broke before the teardown?

Buy a manual at www.atsg.com. You can do it without special tools, but they make it easier.
