Edge Evolution users or others please help!!!!
I have an 06 FX4 5.4 with the Evolution programmer. I am bringing the truck to Ford tomorrow to trade it in. I took out the programmer after returning the truck to the stock power level. Now the rear end has a wicked shudder when shifting, especially going first to second and much worse under heavy acceleration. The dealership drove the truck before I returned it to stock so the deal is made but if they drive it even a few hundred yards on the lot they will definitely notice it. I reprogrammed it to level 2 and the shudder is gone, but they told me to take the Edge out so what the heck should I do.

Go sign the papers, and get the heck out of there. Those people drive so many used cars a day, i highly doubt they will say anything or notice anything even if they do drive it across the lot. And if someone does drive it from in front of the dealership to a back lot they will probably be just some kid they hire to do whatever. I wouldnt worry about it, just sign the papers and forget it. They cant do anything to you once you trade it in anyways. Its like the game they play when they are trying to sell a car, they will be your best friend before you buy the car, but if something happens 30 seconds after you sign the papers, its your problem then. Pull the unit and forget it.

I think what you can do is call Edge and tell them that you took the truck in for service and the dealership flashed your computer and your edge is stuck and you cant program the truck cause you didnt use the edge to return it to stock, i think they will give you something to run on it to return the edge to a useful state. I've read that on here a couple times.

I really doubt that down the road "if" the dealership would reflash the computer that they would come back to you on it. And if you leave the tune on the truck and keep the Edge and pay the small fee to get the edge reprogrammed you could use the Edge on another vehicle, and unless the new owner of your truck has a big problem, chances are that computer may never get reflashed again.
And if dealerships went after people for trading in vehicles in a way that you are explaining, then there would be alot of people out there in trouble. They drove your truck, they agreed on it, whatever happens after the signing is irrelevant. They have no proof that you did anything, they might be able to see that the computer was reflashed, when you took it back to stock, but there wont be any proof that because of that now the truck is making a noise.
Do you know how many junk vehicles a dealership goes through, thats why they low ball trade ins so if they need to do work then they have the room. The dealership wont care, cause they will just sell it to someone else and make it that persons problem to fix. Im not saying that you should do it just to make it someone elses problem, cause i wouldnt. But if the dealership cares, they know that each used vehicle will need some work, and they will take care of it before it goes back out, remember if they care.
i think your making too big of a deal out of this. If your that worried, leave the Edge in and let them take it out and reflash the computer. Then it will be 100% on them.
