When I bought this trk a few months ago it had a superchips sticker in the back window that leads me to beleive it had a superchips programmer at one point. I was running a Edge Evolution. When I first programmed it, it ran well enough,... Had a slightly rough idle on level 3, and way too much smoke though. Tryed turning it down a level and the programmer went nuts and wasnt able to return the "stock" settings. Edge sent me another programmer, as well as a "stock writer", to erase the ECM and reprogram the stock program. This worked and got the truck to start and run again, after which I reprogramed the ECM. It ran better after the ECM had been Erased and reprogrammed. I adjusted the settings a couple of times never had a problem even went back to stock once to make sure I could before I sent the stock writer back. Today I went to reset the program to stock so I could go get an emmissions test, same problem cant get it to go back to stock mode. Called Edge theyre sending me the stuff again to reflash it again, told em Im returning there programmer when Im done, Im tired of the headaches. Only concerns are is there a ECM problem causing this? My truck is a 96 and there is no year on the labale on the RT valve cover the only year marking is where it says conforms to "1994 EPA statndards" so Im wondering if the engine or ECM have been swapped out and thats part of the problem, escentially programmed for the wrong years settings? Or is this simply a bad tuner issue? Either way Edge has lost several hundred dollars in overnight air fees to due this a couple of times both replacing the programmer as well as paying the back and forth shipping, but its costing me something else in time and inconvenience. Arranged to hav the programmer returned tommorow after I receiver the writer to reflash the ECM the shop is holding a Hypertech programmer Im gonna try, hopefully with better results. Your thoughts.

 

Edge is know for causing those issue

The htech is a waste too. Just get a chip from tony wildman for about the same $ and be done with it
