Edge Evolution Programmer Trouble

I bought an Edge Evolution Programmer for my 08 F150.

I tried it in my 06 F150 and was satisfied with it performance. After returning it to stock, I attempted to load it into the 08. Well it went through the process of programming and after it read my stock program, it started to load the new program and stopped with a message that it was missing a file.

After staring at it for a few minutes, I backed the programmer back to the menu. It did not have a return to stock selection. So I closed everything up and attempted to start the truck and it would not start.

I am at a loss to do anything now. I could go on line to update the programmer to get the missing file, but I am afraid that it may wipe out the stock files.

Unfortunately it is the weekend and I live on the east coast so I will have to wait till Monday to contact the techs for assistance. has anyone else experienced a problem like this?

ouch. i think you'll be able to get the files for the PCM from Edge, via email tomorrow. If not, then you'll have to get a tow to the dealer and have them re-flash your computer. You might even be able to play dumb, and get it fixed under warranty. "Excuse me, my truck doesn't start"... I'm glad the one I was playing with yesterday didn't do that. Best of luck!!

However, if you just want to get the truck started for now, by all means download the file from the site. In Level I, it ONLY changes your shift points, so all of your stock files should be back in there.

Fordztuff, thanks for the feedback. I have very little experience with the Edge download. I am afraid that if I download a file off their site it will write over my stock file

I'm not a master at it by any means. I bought an Edge, the dealer and I tried it out, and he took it back when we were done with it.

If your truck isn't starting now, then it sounds to me like you have no files anyhow. The Edge erases, then loads the new programs. It sounds like during the load, it was missing the file, so it crashed. It's like loading an operating system on a puter, and crashing halfway through.

Update the Edge for the missing file, and try it again. If it doesn't work, then tell the dealer your truck won't start, remove the Edge, and play dumb. They'll reflash you, and all is well. I think everything's fine still. did you update it before you tried to install it? You want the fusion download.

ALL IS WELL. The problem was corrected as simple as reconnecting the programmer and then the truck started. It appears that the 08 program had to be updated and once this happened, evrything was great!! Edge tech service was very helpful, the not only called me, but e-mailed me also about the solution.

Thanks for the assistance.
