I use the UltraGauge - they had a sale on it a couple of months ago....50 bucks with a 10 buck rebate. It has other gauges on it, but for 40 bucks, just to have the coolant temp is worth it. It too, plugs into the OBD port.

I have autometer electric gauges and have checked the ones I can check against the sct in data log mode. I see a difference in boost and in coolant temp. Boost is read at elbow and coolant is checked at block.This might explain why i see a coolant difference, entering coolant as apposed to block temp. I either need an OBD reader or move some of my sensors to read where the actual sensors are.
