what range does the factory coolant temp gauge sender read in?
can that sender be used in oil instead of coolant?
thinking of ways to get creative with the gauge cluster...maybe using the temp gauge for oil temp, since i've got a mechanical thats way more accurate for the coolant. really just want to know when its HOT or NOT.
Oil temps generally run 10-20 deg F hotter than coolant temps at medium load. An oil temp of 230 is getting warm and 250 is overheating a a rule of thumb. The range of the the coolant gauge would work for oil... the needle would be closer to the hot side more of the time. As far as compatibility of the coolant temp sender itself with oil, I have no idea.
