the Ford Racing E303 cam, can it be put in a 95 F150 which has a 5.0 (That has a 351 firing order)? I am asking cause I want to put a better cam in my 95 F150. Thanks guys.
Yes it can... but that doesn't make it a good choice in most cases. What is your definition of "better" when it comes to a cam and engine powerband? I'm sure you have already seen some of my cam suggest and I can suggest one for you too, but unless I really understand what your expectations are it's not likely you'll get what you want. For example Lew52 has this cam in his 2wd reg cab truck but he also has better heads and intake and most importantly 4.56 gears. His truck is significantly lightened as well so it's not far from being comparable to a fully loaded mustang in weight.. which is what this cam was designed for. Bottom line is it's all about the combo, and it only takes one mismatched part to completely ruin it.
The E303 cam is also a hyd. Roller cam. So if your truck is a non HO block you will need to convert it with hyd. Roller lifters. They sell between 300 to 600 bucks depending on the brand.... So I would look at a different cam....comp cams has a lot of great choices for flat tappet cams
Want to be able to still have towing power, also want to still be able to use 4X4 hen needed, but mostly just to have a peppier feel and be a little more sportier. Hope I made since.
What you need is a RV style cam. The motorsport cams are really not made for towing and pulling.... I would also look into upgrading the exhaust as well.

You can have that without going as far as the E303, the Comp 35-349-8 that I have or 35-320-8 are good HO style cams that will wake the motor up without completely destroying it's usefullness in a truck. In a heavier truck or one with 31" or larger tires gears(3.73+ depending upon your combo) are also a good idea and a full exhaust system with headers should always be on the list.

All 5.0 motors built after 1992 come with a hydraulic roller cam from the factory, and all 5.0 blocks cast after 1987 are roller ready even if they weren't built with a roller cam from the factory. That means any '87-91 5.0 motor will accept the factory roller cam assembly(spider, dogbones, OEM roller lifters, roller cam) with little or no modifications.
if your running 33's and 3.31 gears you need to get the gears changed to 4.10s first and foremost. any engine mods you do prior to a gear swap will be a waste of time and money. Especially if plan on towing.
3.31 gears. That's a great example of that one piece that destroys a combo. All 5.0 trucks need more gear than the factory shipped them with.. even with stock tires. Gears should be the very first thing you change.
Ive got a conpleatly stock 96 F250 with a 351W with a c6 and 4.10s and im trying to find a cam for my truck... after reading this I changed my mind about the E303 but what should I run that will be good for more torque for plowing and trasnfer sled
Generally, a 302 with that cam requires a converter, with more cubes the cam has less rpm capability. It will be close. Maybe someone can post with some more experience.
