I have a 302 with stock, well I was told it was a crate motor but it has plastic lifter retainers I'm sure I was lyed to no crate motor will ever have plastic stock lifter retainers it has gt40 aluminum heads that's about it and there full of junk non adjustable rocker arms.Well a couple lifters are making noise and I'm assuming its a e303 or b303 cam in the engine I have a f303 cam and lifters new laying around can I use the f303s lifters in my motor with these other cams will I need to change pushrods I would just put the f303 cam in but than id prob have to change all the rocker arms springs ect I'm assuming when it comes to adjusting for a new cam pushrods is where you do it,basicly can diff cam lifters say e303 and f303 are they the same lifters just diff pushrods I was just hoping to remove my lifters and put these f303 lifters in and be done any info would help.
I think the Explorer 5.0 engines came with the plastic lifter retainers. It seems like Ford got away from the dogbone retainers but don't quote me on that.
Generally, the larger the lift (or lobe lift to be more precise) the base circle of the lobe will need to change. That may not be the case with F303 but it may. If the heads are pedestal type, yes pushrod length will be where you make adjustments for the correct rocker arm geometry.
