I'm not sure, it takes a while to get all the stuff to register, you have to have 3 letters of recommendation. I'm going to look into it further today, after school. Also, I need to go through all the information I got at that conference I was chosen to go to. I think the Coast Guard would be so awesome, they are the police of the water...

Thank you, I'd have to say the same for myself.

They weren't allowing enlistments, that I know of anyway's. But, there was recruitment officers there.
They said out of about 3,000, they send about 300 acceptance letters. They are the smallest branch of the service, as well as the hardest to get into. Almost all men in my family have been in the military. My dad was in The Air Force from '74-'78, My Uncle was in The Air Force for 30 years and retired from there. My Grandfather was a Marine, he was a Sniper Scout in WWII. His father was in WWI. And the same for the other men on both sides.

That just means you have to be among the best. The important thing is to have a goal, work toward it, and do your best. This is a fine goal. Focus on what you want, not how hard it is to get there.
Then there are 5 other branches to choose from if your first choice doesn't work out.
That transition doesn't have a lot of bank too it. I'm surprised there aren't more incidents like that with all the containers that go across there everyday.

Anthony, I for some reason you are not accepted the first time, re-apply! You are bound to learn a few things in the process first time around.
Also, write (not email,) your senators and congressional reps and ask them to give you a letter of recommendation. It will take some time but they will put in a request for the FBI to check you out. If there is nothing terrible in your background they will let your reps know and you will most likely get that letter. The more you get the better. Also write to your State congressman for a recommendation too.
This works. Make sure that your letter requesting the recommendations are well thought out, short and error free. Print them out on high quality stationary and sign them in blue ink. (If you have a fountain pen, use that to sign it with.)
Ask your local police chief, city council members, and the Mayor of your city too.
I think that the Coast Guard is a great idea. You could travel anywhere in the world. They do some great work, and a lot of it is very interesting stuff!!
Sign up for EMT training and also sign up for "Coast Guard Auxiliary classes." You would also be well advised to join the Coast Guard Auxiliary come to think of it. It is a great organization and you would get a leg up on Coast Guard training. But their classes, anyone can sign up for. They are the outfit that license mariners. They teach navigation, boat handling and much more. They offer a bunch of classes, I have taken quite a few. And they are a lot of fun! Exciting stuff.
I'm not sure if there is a marina around here, ask Steve or another member here, they've been here longer than I have...
I've only lived here since '94.
