I am looking to see what the max load that can be loaded in/on my truck. It is an 05 XLT supercab 6.5ft bed, 5.4L, 4x4. I believe the number is in the 1700 lb range
You can always do a little more to it to make it do a little more for you, I added F250 leaf springs to mine as well as 456 gears... My truck has taken pretty much everything i have thrown at it.. From pulling our 8k travel trailer to cars quads... Great trucks..
I provided the OP with a link to the specs for his vehicle. It's found right here on this site, right up there in the menu bar under "Articles/Specs". I took the # I gave him directly from this chart.
1670lbs for a 2005 4x4 SuperCab 6.5' bed with the 5.4L
Sorry to rain on your parade, but you provided him generic information. Those numbers are for a no option 2005 XL supercab, 6.5' bed, 5.4, 4x4. His XLT surely has AC, power windows, power door locks, maybe a rear sliding window, power mirrors and other stuff. The weight of each of those is factored into the actual payload capacity for the truck. The payload capacity is figured on the GVWR minus the actual weight of the vehicle. Plus when working with payload capacity Ford is not factoring the weight of the driver or passengers.
My 2007 Lariat, supercab, 6.5' box, 5.4 4x4 with all sorts of options has an actual payload capcity of 1376 (the 1200 I remembered was incorrect). My truck has a 7200 GVWR.
No worries my friend. Just passing along something I know a little something about. Someone kindly provided the same sort of details to me a number of years ago.
Well, awhile back I overloaded my 05 150, and then my ABS light came on. found that a wire up on top of the rear punkin got pinched and shorted out. A new wire connector, and some liquid tape and away I went. That's what I got when I decided to make just one trip rather than two when I was hauling lawn sod for the house. Guess I was thinking I was still hauling with the ol 72 F100. More than once I pulled on the scales with a load of gravel and the needle went to 10,000. Made the steering easier too. I know what you're going to say about that, but no apparent damage.
