XLT screw or FX4 screw

What to do?

09 XLT screw on dealers lot priced an eqiupped right.
I feally want a FX4 screw but the price on the trucks they located are $4000.00 more(loaded up on options)than the XLT.

The reason the FX4 I want is hard to find is because of the 6'.5'' bed, very few dealers have that truck on their lots in my color choice(white)or any other color.

If I ordered the FX4 the way I want the price would be about $1000.00 more than the XLT. (If rebate programs stay the same)
XLT rebate is $5750.00, FX4 rebate is $4750.00

Do I roll the dice and order a FX4 and chance losing the rebates or take the XLT on the dealers lot? Or could rebates get better?

Going to another dealer is not an option my dealer is putting a ton of money in my 05 F250 supercab. I priced trucks at a couple of other dealers and their allowance on my truck wasn't even close.

depends how much you want the FX4. If you want it so bad that if you owned an XLT, you had regrets every time you see someone else's FX4, then get the FX4. I would go the XLT. I like the chrome on XLT and Lariat, and I would probably prefer the Max tow package with 3.73 Limited-slip diff than the black grille and E-locker diff on FX4. I have found LSDs to keep both wheels spinning through mud anyway, so a locker wouldn't be much of an improvement. I am somebody who tends to try and push it as far as I can in 2wd before I engage 4wd, i love the feeling of fishtailing in 2wd through mud. Open diffs won't do that, but LSD will.

My dealer indicated that Ford would offer price protection - when you pull the trigger on the order, the currently-effective rebates are locked in. You can choose to take them, or take the current rebates if the packages get better.

You're going to drop $35-40K in this process. Just order it... get exactly what you want, be that an XLT or an FX4. My choice was an XLT - I need the column shift so I can remove the floor console for a radio console.

Yes. I love my 08 Lariat, but if I got an 09, it would be an XLT.

jmedic911,

I am also from the St.Louis area, the extra $750.00 was a private offer. In fact the sales rep has the ability to pull up private offers on the dealers computer.
My sale rep informed me that I just missed a Amozon.com gift card offer that was good for $750.00 that ran out 4/15/09.
My sales rep also informed me about a $300.00 small buisness rebate and a $500.00 police appreciation rebate that I may be able to recieve.

It gets kind of confusing with all the rebate talk . Hope this helps

I just got that $750 private offer yesterday myself. Basically, if you have bought a Ford since 2004 new, you are eligible for the offer. I get the damn things all the time...about 1 per month

btw, get what you want. $1,000 is meaningless when you are financing $30,000+. Roughly $16.00-20.00 of difference on the final monthly payment...I'm sure you could sacrifice a couple coffes a month, or a pack or 2 of cigarettes if money is tight so you can get that extra $20

If you buy the XLT and really really want the FX4...well later on, you will find yourself wanting that FX4 and will be regretting the FX4 purchase.

I also got the $750 extra rebate from Ford. Don't fret about the $750 amazon.com gift card. It's either/or: either the $750 rebate or the $750 gift card; can't have both. I had both offers when I got my 09 XLT and the dealer tried to get me both but no cigar. I even called Ford about it and they confirmed it was either one but not both.

I'm dealing with TRI-Ford in Highland IL,

In my opinion one of the best Ford stores in St.Louis area.

Go with the FX4. Thats what I'd do. The interior is way cooler then the XLT, as are the decals, IMO. Ive got an XLT now and when my lease is up Im going for the purchase on an FX4 crew. Plus, there are a million XLT's out there. The FX4 is comon too but not so as much the XLT.

Let us know what you decide on (and post pics!!!)
