ALRIGHT GUYS AND GALS, YOU HAVE ANSWEREED 3 OF MY QUESTIONS, ONLY 1 MORE LEFT. ABOUT 6 TO 8 INCHESOF THE RUBBER TRIM ON TOP OF WINDSHEILD ON PASSENGER SIDE HAS COME LOOSE, NOW I HAVE 2 TINY LEAKS THERE. WHAT CAN I PUT ON THE WINDSHEILD TO SEAL IT,AND WHAT DO YOU SEAL THE TRIM RUBBER BACK DOWN WITH? WORKING ON MY 2000 F-150 4X4 LARIET.THANKS FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS. CHRIS
you can fill it with black RTV and try to get that to match and seal. If it dont work out, take it to the glass specialist and have them change out the window seal with new.
I went thru the same issue with My SCREW. Just filling the gap won't work. There is a layer of Dirt Grime & dust as well as particles of any tree you have ever parked under or drove thru. Carefully pull the entire strip away from the window. Clean the Trim strip and the window area. There is a groove that the strip sits in. If you have a windshield leak you need some assist. Have someone push out on the glass as you run a bead of Silicone down the lowest point where the window sits against the cab. You don't want to use too much and it is really hard to describe the exact amount to use. A 3/16 bead is what I worked with on mine and as you press the trim strip back into place some will ooze out onto the windshield. Use a bunch of wet rags and get that assistant to help you to place masking tape from the top of the cab over the strip onto the windshield. let it dry overnight if you get the rain ready in 3 Hours type of glue. If not don't take the tape off for at least a day. Use a razor to scrape away any cured glue from the glass & be CERTAIN to wipe any off the paint before it cures with those wet rags.
