My windsheild is leaking at the top above the rearview mirror. Is there a cheap fix to this or am I going to have to pull the windsheild out to change the seal. I was told if I pull the glass that it would more than likely crack, and I will have to buy a new windsheild. I was going to use some kind of silicone but don't know if that will work. Any suggestions would be great. THANKS
I had an 82 Trans Am with T-tops that leaked water all the time. I used to use silicone to seal them up in bad weather. It's not pretty but it works until you can fix the problem correctly.
Go to the local parts store. They have silicone sealer specially made for auto windshields. It's basically regular clear silicone, but it's more runny, so it flows a little better, and doesn't make such a mess. It has worked for me several times.
I change and repair windshields for a living. Don't use silicone, it not only looks like crap but 90% of the time it won't solve the problem. If the vehicle your referring is the 85' I would be willing to bet you have a rust issue on the pinchweld. I would remove the glass and have it resealed properly. Make sure the tech cleans the rust all the way down, treats the rust with acid treatment and then completely primers the pinchweld.

Thanks, that is great advise. also thanks for all of the comments. Hopefully when they pull the windsheild they will not break it. But I definitely want it fixed right.
No, no cab lights. it looks to be coming in right above the rearview mirror. My headliner has a stain there. It runs down the trim towards the drivers door, and always ends up on my left leg.
Well, if you want to get into "doing it right" and I was going to pay to get the windshield pulled, then I would just buy a new windshield, installation is usually included in the price.
I don't know about the other guy's windshields, but both the trucks I have had, the windshield was really scratched up and and getting the sandblasted look. But on my trucks it still serves the main purpose it was intended, and I can still see through it, so the silicone fix works perfect for me.
I've been trying to get leaks stopped in two trucks, tied the more fluid silicone, and still have leaks. One has cab lights, but sealed them too, and the leaks continue... Haven't been able to determine if it is the windshield to pinch weld, or between the pinch welds where the leak is.
I used the windshield scilicone on my truck had a leak on the passenger side it stopped untill I got it replaced about 2 yrs later. It was just suppose to be temporary it was out of sight out of mind thing untill I got pulled over here in arizona for cracked windshield.then i had It replaced cost me 116.00 dollars for the replacement including installation
My windshield leaked onto and into the ignition and froze over night!
A huge friggen chunk of glacial ice!
I used the same butane mini torch that melted the ice in the door lock to melt the ignition ice, and good thing I put it in the truck as all the water was not gone and the little bit still in there refroze while I was at work!
