Windsheild Leaks

Guy just like the Title says my windsheild has developed a Leak

Is NOT OEM it was replaced 3-4 years ago

Felt alittle Damp by the Headliner and I think it leaks in more then 1 spot

But the Other day it rained and my Alarm was acting Funney and I had a Puddle on the Floor mat. The Headliner was wet again not to bad though but the Puddle on the MAT was Alarming that's why I think it may have more then 1 leak spot but IDK

Iv never installed a Windsheild so is there special Glue to use or just Silicone

the Silicone scares me it maybe a BEAR to get out if it ever needs replaced But maybe that's what they use IDK

IDK if I should try to remove the Windsheild clean it all up and reattach it or just run a Bead of Silicone or Whatever YOU GUYS SUGGEST I USE around it to stop the Leak

Need to address this I don't want it to Take out the GEM MODULE OR MY ALARM or any other electronics under there

SO any tips to get the Winshild trim OFF and Silicone or whatever to seal it off would be GREAT

Thanks Guys n Gals Have a Great day

There is supposed to be a glue and set for 24 hours before the vehicle is moved.

On my 01 1/2 ton I just cleaned up the seal and used some silicone/glue from Oreillys and it worked great for 2 years til I traded it off.

Benny I have been driving the 02 this week and noticed the same thing it's leaking at the top right above my head, does not puddle runs down the inside of the windshield on to the dash. I have never done anything with the glass ether Silicone should be OK I was going to try it tomorrow if I don't work.

I wondered if I should try to Pull the trim Off and then Glue it

I will drop by the Auto parts store and Find some Urethane

I know I have Clear silicone but I bet that's a POS to remove later on Little hesitant to use that

Check with your insurance company. I'm pretty sure if you have a "crack" in your windshield, it gets replaced free. At least that's the way it is in Florida.

there is a butyl adhesive specifically made for windshields.

what probably happened is that the replacement windshield
was installed by someone from a large national chain i won't
mention the name of, but safelite sucked in my opinion.

to get a good seal, you really need to remove and replace the
windshield, so you can properly bed the windshield in urethane.
anything else is a bit mickey duck. sorry, but it's the truth.

if you are gonna just give it a lick and a promise, the sealant
i'd use is 3M 550 urethane. it will seal boat hulls below the
waterline.

it is a commercial product, and not found in your usual spots.
not for sale to DIY'ers....

if you want to go that route, PM me an address, and i will send
you a tube. i pay about a third of what you'll have to pay on the net.

don't get any on ya. it comes off with time, and wear.

Right I don't want to make it permanent Believe it or not this windshield is original never been replaced I'm wondering if the rubber seal is rotting away.
