digital odometer

I have a 99 f150 xlt off road pack and my digital odometer disapears sometimes for a couple seconds or sometimes I have to hit the front of the gauge then it will come on. but its gotn better, it used to be where it stayed of the whole time .

I thought they went back to a mechanical odo display in '97...

My digital odometer has green numbers and a black backround, its kinda like green lead light, but yeah it doesnt look like u'rs

97-98 went mechanical (actually I think they were electronic though), then back to digital display in 99.

So does mine. 2000 XLT 4.6l I can't find any other problems with my truck, but I have noticed this happening lately, perhaps it is because I am now looking for it. Anybody ever figure out what is wrong?

Ive seen this on a few vehicles and it required replacing the cluster to fix it. You can check for loose wiring at the cluster, pinouts in the pigtail connector as well.
