who the hell fixes anything properly???? thats crazy talk
ask me about a guy i know who put saw dust in his tranny fluid. made the slipping not as bad and got rid of the weird noises it had after a few dunks in some illinois river water. lasted just long enough to sell.
Dan do you have any idea how long the sawdust trick has been used by used car sales lots? It's nothing new, us it in the differential to quiet down gear noise, transmissions to get them to last just long enough to sell etc.
a ratchet wrench is like what, $8 at most for that size. how much is a driveshaft or yoke?
I would've had a broken wrench and my driveshaft still wouldn't be off. The amount of tq required to remove far exceeded the working limit of the wrench. DAN.
Idk Paul, sometimes those wrenches will surprise you. But than again other times they break just by looking at them. Lol.
I've done the same thing before Paul. But mine was because I lost my half inch wrench and busted a ujoint. It works good "slinging" the d shaft upsome times!

Yupp, when i turned 16 and was looking my first truck i pulled the tranny dipstick on one and found a little sawdust on it... i shut the hood and walked away

nope rob, had no clue. didn't know it was a common practice amongst dirty bums.
thanks for the info but i always try to buy outright from people not dealerships, it's easier on the ol' bs detector when they don't lie for a living.
oatmeal is another good noise quieting additive. i pulled a trans apart on a mack one time after the driver said it was making a noise like a broken gear.
there had to be 5 lbs of oatmeal in with the straight 140WT gear oil.
the truck was bought at auction about 6 months earlier.
every bearing in it was bad, causing the main shaft to wobble enough to bust a tooth off the low side splitter shaft.
But I will telll you, don't give up (unless you want to get divorced) she just went through having a kid and for some reason woman can get rather strange right after child birth.
for a stupid duty, a driveshaft is $675. i had to replace one this time last year for my neighbor on his "new" used truck, because a previous "mechanic" welder the u-joint cups to the shaft cause they were loose.
I just bought a cclb rear dshaft complete with carrier bearing setup with like 59k on it for $200.
i was talking new though Cheeto.
i would have bought used if i could have found one, but he was using my truck while his was down, and i did not want to wait a few weeks for the local yards to find one.
