Hey Curtis, i remember we both had the IPR bug not to long ago. I had to replace mine too, similar symptoms of what i went through to finally get mine fixed. I dont remember the smoke though? I also had issues with the grey CPS about 6 months after that whole deal. I couldnt find a oem black one to save my life at the time and as last resort went to Autozone, believe it or not they have them down there. Swapped out the grey one for that 18 dollar one, went strong for 65,000 miles and was still in my truck until i traded it in a couple weeks ago.

So ya im not a PSD owner anymore but stop by from time to time, alot of things i miss about the truck and things like your going through that i dont

Just thought i would throw those two suggestions at you, hope you fix it. I have a spare IPR that i went through to check for wear but never did test it in the truck at home, maybe i can locate it and send to you for troubleshooting?

Thanks for the offer.

I'm kinda skeptical about the IPR being a culprit. I've had an IPR fail before, and the truck would also stall when running. All of my issues revolve around a cold start problem. Once it's running, I have no issues for the rest of the day.

Plus all the datalogging as well as the HPOP gauge show that it's making oil pressure, which is something that didn't happen before when the first IPR gave up the ghost.

HPOP gauge what is this all about? I could probably use something like that about now.

Forgot my wife was going to use the truck this morning.

It cranked up perfectly first try. No block heater, no nothing.

It's most definitely an intermittent problem. Frustrating to say the least.

Based on it being that intermittent i would think electrical somehow. Next time it wont start check with a meter across your fuse box to make sure you have power to your IDM and PCM. I cant remember, is the fuel bowl heater wired in series to the PCM, or are they on the same circuit. Maybe the damn heater is failing causing this? Just throwing stuff out there.

I guess your wife needs to start it for you for now on...

Seriously, hope you find your issue.
