Removing Center console

Anyone have any tips on how to go about removing it? I need to run some audio/video cables and wires through the center of the truck so the center needs to make way for abit.

Removing Center console

I removed the center console from my 2000 expy.for the same reason. I not sure if there the same but the screws could be located near the same area.
1) move the driver and passanger seat fully forward and look for for screws at the base of the console all the way in the rear of it on both sides.
2) If you have a built in cup holder in the back of the console remove it . There should be screws in that too.
3) If you have a place to put coins in the middle of the console, and it has a rubber mat, remove the mat and there should be a screw under that.
4) If you have a place where a cd changer would go, there is a rubber mat. Under that, there are screws under that in addition to screws behind and under the cd changer.
5) My 2000 expy has controls for the rear airconditioning mounted in the console. If you do, this will have to be removed and unpluged.
6) Once all screws are removed there are still
clips that have to be poped out, or pryed up.
PS: THE SCREWS ARE NOT PHILLIPS OR FLAT HEAD. THEY ARE STAR SHAPED OR USE A SOCKET

Good Luck

This doesn't really involve removing the entire center console, but has anyone removed teh factory 6 disk changer fro their expy? I am planning to remove the wife's this weekend. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Removing Center console

I am not sure if this is the info you need but, for removal you just open the console, It is easier if you take the lid off the console. You just lift up the rubber liner inside and there is a shroud surrounding the cd changer just unscrew the mounting screws and lift it out. If you are going with an aftermarket changer they all come with mounting brackets that you attach to the bottom of the console. I added an Alpine 12 disc changer and it is only a little bit bigger than the stock 6 disk was. I ran the wire straight thru the console up to the radio. Then you might have to trim the rubber mat to fit but you can reinstall it.
