2000 ford 4.2 engine replacement

Hey guys I have a 2000 f150 4.2 manuel tranny. I have purchased a 2000 4.2 replacement engine. If I am only replacing the engine should I still pull both the motor and tranny? Can I take it out through the bottum? I have never pulled a ford motor but have done a few hondas. Is there anything I should look out for?
Thanks for any and all imput

I would think the best way to go would be,,remove the hood and the radiator and just pull the motor out .
Never saw anyone pull a motor and trans out from under....Might work in a hodo but not a Ford truck.
