1997 4.2 motor whos is best?

Im recently in need of replacing my 4.2 engine out of my 1997 f150 4x4. I found powertrain motors carries a nice upgraded version of the 4.2 without all of the 4.2 flaws, for around 1,799 ?? I would like to know where is the best replacment engine for my 4.2? I dont like it when people call these trucks junk im on a mission to make a 4.2 ford beast!!!

Hey, sorry you have not gotten any replies

I have been very busy with work and out of town a good bit.

Anyways, I don't have any first hand, or even second hand experience with replacement motors.
I remember a few threads from several years back involving replacement motors. Maybe you can use "search" and find some info that will help you.

Other than that, I guess it's "caveat emptor" and do your homework (as best you can).

I too have been pleased with the 4.2. Will turn over 200,000 miles within the next month or two on my 05. Still running like a top.

There are some differences but I am pretty sure you can marry the two.
Will not be a perfect one-for-one swap out, but can be made to work.
It would be important (I would think) that both be connected to auto or manual transmissions (due to ECU programming issues, maybe?)

197,000 miles and still going strong.
Only problem was rear axle seal about 80K miles ago.
Still runs and shifts just fine.

Thanks for asking.
