constant squealing coming from the front

When driving my truck I can hear a constant squealing coming from the front passenger side tire area. This seems to happen or get louder the longer the truck has driven that day. It's not the brakes because the noise stays exactly the same when applying the brakes. Seems as long as the tires are spinning, the noise is there...Any Ideas?

That's not really true Lanncz87, you never know how a wear sensor will act. I've seen them on occasion stop squeling when you hit the brakes, but usually this is when they first start hitting and the guy brings it in right away, most times they squel all the time. You should check the brakes. Oh ya, I not talking about Ford Truck specific, I be working on all cars and speak in general.

Could also be a rock in the brakes, although it should work its way out after a dozen miles or so.

Right, could be anything. You know I've had a few 64 Galaxies over the years. Hands down my favorite year, 63 would come in second. ( I know, I'm off topic!)

It would at least be wise to remove the front wheels and check both the inboard and outboard brake pads for wear on both wheels. Pads don't always wear evenly and looking at just the outboard pad through a mag wheel won't reveal wear on the inboard. When brakes start squealing it doesn't take long to waste what may still be a good rotor as well.

is there a way to check and see if the hub and bearing assembly is bad?

jack the tire up an inch off the ground and spin it. try ti wiggle sideways and up and down. sometimes you have to take the tire off and the brake caliper so you can narrow it down to the hub/ bearing, but if it is bad enough , you can tell with the tire on.

When my hub bearing went I actually could feel it in the steering wheel when I turned at low speeds on pavement. The clincher was the movement with the tire jacked up.
