Ad then from the bed to the uffer bar that is in your house's foundation. Of course this limits travel greatly.

i know when i got my truck the guys had the ground with no connector just wires stuffed into the exhaust stud....IDIOTS it burned off several times on them...when i got the truck i moved it to the best spot i could see which was the bolt behind the alt...then i ran a jumper from there to where the vacuum for the fuel tank thing (***** i can't remember what it's called...it's on the frame under the battery on my 73) is i sanded to bare frame installed a ground there and painted to prevent rust... i don't have the heavy duty wires from the alt since i'm not running 3G yet but i will. from the bat to the solenoid is a 0 gauge jumper for a semi truck battery set up.seems to work well.

Sounds like the charcoal canister for the EEC system (evaporative emissions control)

Ok so I got a 1 gauge wire from napa for my ground and drilled the hole out to fit the bolt behind the alternator. For the starter and the positive wire, I had already purchased new 4 gauge wire and installed it before the bigger stuff was recommended. I turned the key and it cranked right up better than it ever has since I've owned it. I guess I'll leave it as is for now and when the 4 gauge stuff fails I'll replace it.

Thanks for the help it was greatly appreciated,
Adam

yep, a good ground can make all the difference in the world. Next, after a 3g upgrade, you should consider doing a headlight relay kit.

You dont have to get carried away with a massive alternator wire. Just look at the stock size..very small. I went with a 8 gauge if I remember of a high quality muli strand cable which is about 3/8- 1/2 outside diameter and I run a custom built for my needs 160 amp alternator. Recently my bro did a 3G alternator upgrade and the stock wire gave him grief until we changed it out as well but again not massive.
