You can get the fish tape any place. I would think the Depot or Lowes would be the cheapest.

Sporting goods store?

Seriously, it's called a fish tape. For limited use, Harbor Freight will have it for cheap.

Hey Cowlick I see the description at the bottom of the LeisurePro ad for the surgical tubing... it says the roll can have as many as three separate lengths of the tubing. That can't be good if you end up with an odd leftover length, and only two or three doors done. Did your roll(s) come as one complete 50 ft. length? Thanks.

Mine did come in all one length but I've heard of other guys who got the splices in their roll. They have dealt with that in various ways including using electricians tape to hold the pieces together when drawing it through the length of the seal. I'm sure there are other sources online that will guarantee a single length. I'm thinking Amazon.com.

Remember that on the new trucks, the upgraded door seal will be pretty stiff for the first while. It settles down and conforms to the door opening pretty quickly though.

I just did this mod recently. My roll had at least three splices. I just left them alone, and pulled it through. The breaks are taped together. I had one come apart when I was pulling it through. I then took it all back out, and taped the two ends together real good, and it went in then. When I was all done, I only had a few inches that didn't get used. Good luck.

Thanks Brian. I found some 25 ft. lengths from McMaster-Carr that are continuous. Is 12' 6" enough for each door?

Thanks Cowlick, I did check Amazon, but both LeisurePro and Dive Rite Express can't guarantee continuous lengths. McMaster-Carr guarantees 25 ft. continuous, and I am assuming 12' 6" will cover each door with just a couple inches to spare.

P.S. McMaster-Carr is priced about the same at .80 per foot, and they ship same day.

You're going to be within an inch or two which is fine. I did all my doors and ended up with about 10 inches left over from a single 50 foot roll.

Don't use the vinyl tubing unless you live where it's warm all year. I got it for free and did this mod this summer. Every time my wife gets in she doesn't close the door hard enough and it's like the window is down a bit. I also had small 2 to 3 inch pieces of solid black rubber in the moulding at the corners I had to remove through the little holes. Thanks to EpicCowlick for the video.

What are you guys paying for the fish puller thing? I found one at Northern tool for $36.00 which seemed high so I passed and will look elsewhere......I wonder if just a stiff wire the right length would work??
