New MLPS, Ignition Switch, Ignition, Solonoid, still no start... help!

I've replaced all that and I still cannot turn the key to start the truck (1996 351). I really didn't mind replacing everything as I'm sure it all needed to be replaced eventually anyway. I can turn the key on and jump the solonoid and the truck will fire.

Does anyone have any guidance on how to further troubleshoot this? I hooked up a test light to the one small wire on the starter solonoid and it did not light up when I turned the key.

THe truck acts like it wants to start (dash lights dim, etc.) when I turn the key but I get nothing, not even a click. What do you think?

Are your reverse lights working properly? You may just need to adjust the new MLPS.

Also, when you replaced the ign switch did you leave the two fasteners loose and try adjusting it a little up and down the column?

Sounds like the NSS. Check it for voltage as you have someone try to start it.

Thanks for the input guys. The MLPS is essentially the neutral safety switch from what I understand and has already been replaced.

Haven't looked at any relays under the hood yet. This is the intel I'm trying to gather.

Last time I checked (this past weekend) the fuses were all good to go except the 30A horn fuse which I replaced.

When I put the new ignition switch in I tried to start the truck just from the switch itself and no dice. Powered up ok, the rest of the truck acted like it started (dimming lights, blower, etc.), but no action from the starter.

These parts were sourced at NAPA so I'd like to think they are quality electrical components.

Lemme check the reverse lights, relays. I'm headed out there now.

THE NSS and the MLPS are entirely two different items. Hence the different names!
One is a switch and the other is a sensor.

jas88 is today's winner. I put the new MLPS in and knew it probably could be adjustable by the way it looked but when I put it on its range of movement was nil.

I loosened it a bit, turned it that one hair it would allow and bam. Fired right up. Again, thank you very much.

If you get under there with a flashlight, look closely at the MLPS. There is a line that lines up with a mark (marked "N" on mine) when the lever and transmission are in neutral.

Glad you got it.

But do what Lonzo said or it will be shifting funny.
