What did you do to the X today?
#3515
While far from a professional detailing, I spent a few hours on the Ex today to clean it up. I had planned on doing it for the last week or so because it was expected to be almost 50 today. Gave it a full wash and cleaned in all the little 'areas'. I admit, I really hate cleaning the interior, so I just don't do it that much. But I don't get it that dirty, either, since it's usually just me driving it.
After disassembling an Ex and seeing critical rust areas, I decided to pull off my window seals to clean underneath. They aren't hard to pull off and I treated the very small amount of rust with a little touch up.
Most of the interior plastic got a good rub down with Scrubbing Bubbles. It did a surprisingly good job at cleaning up all the plastic while not leaving a greasy residue.
Pulled out the Husky Liner and vacuumed the whole thing:
Went on a search and destroy mission in here for a very annoying squeak. TBD if I actually removed it or not.
Scrubbed the floor mats too:
Up next, I need to change the wording on the doors. I'm thinking I'll do "Soon to be a 7.3" to replace the "Wishing for a 7.3", simply because I'm no longer wishing for one...

I need one of those signs because EVERY time I go somewhere in that truck, someone wants to buy it.
OK, so yesterday it wasn't what I did "TO" to the Ex but rather, what I did "FOR" the Ex. Ordered those OEM HD headlights (those are gonna be AWESOME) AND, wait for it.
that new grille!!!!! The front end is gonna make you drool. So these in the Harley Black

Lift on the rear of the seal for the front door and the front for the back. None of them will come off completely though, but enough to get in there and clean. The little plastic curved thing on the back of the back door one is taped to the other window seal, so I avoided having to re-tape that.
Put your windows down first, it'll make it much easier. Then just grab the seals and pull up.
Good luck finding some of the mats... The dealer told me I think it was the front set was the last one available in the country that he could find, back in December 2007. Someone might have some NOS ones on eBay though. They aren't as good as I think a Husky Liner would be, but they do a pretty good job. I'm just careful not to track in a ton of dirt/snow.
I've got somewhere between 35-40k on these and at least that or a little more on the set in the '05. They have held up great and don't show any huge signs of wear. They do get a little discolored and are hard to clean back to the original color, but that's not that bad, not too noticeable.
