Morning Bill, they are caving in to lighter, more versatile vehicle, they should bring the Excursion back with the new motors fuel economy improvements and keep the little stuff around just for the mileage improvement numbers!
I agree...
If I were to buy a new vehicle, Which will NEVER happen, I'd buy like a F-450...

I can't see the reason for turning the Explorer into another crossover. When Ford introduced the Flex, the auto press said why would Ford offer a vehicle no one asked for?
Ford said it replaced the Freestar...a mini-van that didn't sell worth a hoot.
The Flex isn't selling either. It's overpriced, its styling is controversial (one box atop another-looks like a Mini Clubman on steroids). Like the dreadful Pontiac Aztec, you either love it...or hate it.
Now Ford has introduced a Lincoln version (typical FoMoCo rebadging job with some trim changes). Its grille reminds me of the washboard pioneers used to use..and still can be bought from Sears.

What a Night Mare that ugly thing was Back in '99...
Name the SUV after a extinct civilization...? coincidence...? I Think Not!
Well, Get a Escape, for a new cracker box car, it don't look bad.
You towed with that...? YOU'VE got to be kiddin'...
Escape? You gotta be kidding? I knowyou can fit into it, but I can't.
I looked at one several years ago, wooda taken it for a test drive, but couldn't fit behind the wheel...its legroom is slim and none for someone that is sasquatched sized.
The Fusion has faaar more legroom.
I never towed anything with the Titan (or the two previous, or the '04 Lariat), didn't need to...but if I did need to, I coulda.

I'm 5' 4" 'n 115 pounds, I fit into damn near anythin'...
We have no need for anything like that any longer, why I now drive a Fusion and She, who must be obeyed, has an Edge.
We need an Edge sized SUV, cuz while we have no kiddies, we do have five Basset Hounds.
When Steve took over as chapter leader, I showed up at the first coupla GTG's driving a Titan CC (don't say it!).
When I sold my car collection, I no longer needed a tow vehicle, so its gone bye bye.
Not that you specifically need it, the general population doesn't have the choice of a SD tow vehicle that can get the mileage the treehuggers were screaming about with the Excursion, now with the new technology a SD Excursion can get near the same fuel mileage as one of those little Crossover SUV's that can't handle the capacity or room of the Excursion, let alone the Expedition XL.
I have three girls, my grandson, my wife, MIL, and Mom so when we need to take the boat out for a day, we can load up in one vehicle capable to tow anything I can hook up to it.
The platform is still there for Ford to produce it, just not bold enough!
