Morning everybody! I'm up early! Woohoo! Hey Steve, Anthony. Hello Everybody elseI don't know by name yet!

Edit: Steve, I unbolted the front cross member, but it apears to be stuck. On the driverside of it, it is blocked by both the exaust at one side, and brake lines and wireing at the other. What the frak?

Easier to drop the exhaust than it is to undo brake lines and have to bleed it.

I know that, I'm just getting irritated at all the crap I have to take off to get the trans out. God knows if I lose a bolt somewhere...

That's my goal for today. To at least get the trans OUT of the truck. then I can work on the rebuild.

Btw, how the eff do you get the spare tire off? I've got a flat, and no idea how to get the spare off. I tried un bolting it, but it just spins? Thinking back, my Dodge didn't have a spare...

Sounds like the stud on the holder was replaced with a bolt at some point...you'll probably have to figure out a way to get something in there to hold it from the back side while you undo it.

I'm pretty sure there's a speednut type of deal that the "loop looking bolt" screws into.

72 F100 with the spare mounted under the bed to a T shaped bracket?

The long bolt on the left side is secured with a hex nut, but on the right side, the bolt is secured with a U shaped sheet metal nut that slips onto the frame rail.

The nut is secured within the sheet metal cover by tabs. The tabs rust out, the nut spins around and around and around.

Bill, I swear you've FORGOTTEN more that I'll ever know about these trucks, and I lovingly owned and cared for a '70 C/S for many years, and thought I knew it well....

This place is so lucky to have you here!
