Are You Worried???

My Father worked at Ford's when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. He told me that people closed their toolboxes and picked up the lunch pails and walked straight to the recruiters office.

Maybe the secret to the Draft/No Draft question is a better job in selling it, because younger people don't usually keep up with current events on their own, or don't understand the repercussions when they hear something.

I think you'd see the exact same thing happen if Iraq attacked Pearl Harbour tomorrow.

Are You Worried???

I don't worry about it much. My chances of crashing in my truck and burning a horrible death with $1.60/g gasoline is far greater than Sadaam or Al Quaida getting me. I am worried that eventually there will be another "9/11" type event, even terrorists get lucky.

My wife is a little nervous about "what should we do, should we get tape, plastic and food etc?" heck if she took a look around the house we have huge rolls of plastic used for spills(I have cub scouts), we have about 60g of water in the trailer and in bottles for camping, we have well over a month supply of food including self heating MREs. We have camping gear and the trailer for heat, light cooking and shelter etc. I have a home arsenel should the need arise. We have a viscious weiner hound to guard and act as a "coal miners canary".

In general, if you do any camping and outdoor activities, and if you are a bit messy, you probably have every survival item known to mankind. So I don't worry. besides there is nothing a glory hound terrorist would want to blow up where we live. Even the "Big" city Portland doesn't have any juicy world known targets that would tempt a terrorist.

Now if I lived in DC or NY or a national monument, I might worry, but the majority of us live too dull lives to be caught where the action is.
