Need some input....

Which one do you shop at? PETCO, PetsMart, or Grocery store? I am looking for feedback on why you shop where you do, and why you don't shop the other places.

Honestly, I like the conveniece of picking up a bag of dog food at the same time as I get human food.

I've never been to a PETCO, so I don't have an opinion on that.

As for PetsMart, I think it's like a Costco for pets. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm not a dog breeder or kennel keeper with a need for 100 lb bags of dog food every other day. On the other hand, we have gone in there for some specific stuff, like a travel box, or a doggy bed. Usually we come out of there with toys and treats too though. And the puppies are always cute to look at. Can't get that at a grocery store ...

Mini Pet Mart, good prices. I would get stuff at the supermarket, however the better grades of cat food are not available there, at least where I live.

Good ol' Wal-mart for the prices and the fact that all those big pet stores are too far to drive to from here just to get pet food.

PetsMart and the local pet stores are the only places with the high end pet food like Science Diet for the cats. I usually pick up food at the PetsMart because it is close. But I go to the local pet store for supplies, fish, advice, and to pick up food if I am there. The employees at my local mom and pop pet shop have the knowledge to solve problems and I have known them for many years. I expect to pay for that knowledge and I try to support those stores. The local pet store also has higher quality fish and reptile stock with more variety. The conditions they are kept in is also better to insure their survival. I also buy some equipment mail order. I use the pet adoption or second chance agencies for dogs and cats. I would like to see the puppy-mills etc put out of business.

For my cat (he eats the purina one for sensitive systems), is about 10 dollars for a 3lb bag at the pet/grocery store. Walmart and Target both have it for less than 5 so that is where I get it.

I buy my pet food at a Military PX. I only buy Iams and that place seems to have the cheapest prices.

I personally don't like animals being allowed in stores which is why the Petsmart store here is really nasty and full of fleas,Visited once will never go back. I go to Wal Mart or the grocery store for pet food.

I get food for our turtle at the local grocery store. Her main staple food is cat food, followed by fruits and vegetables and sometimes leftover meat. The only thing I get for her at pet stores are the reptile lights and her cage bedding.. which I get from a local non-chain petstore. The other places are a bit further away, so I rarely ever go to the petsmarts / petco's.

I work at a local Agway (feed, pet, lawn, garden, agriculture) store so I just get my stuff there.
