EBPV delete ?'s

I plan on deleting my EBPV soon and wanted to know any and all suggestions before I do this. I can probably figure it out but I'm wondering if there's any tricks I should know about first.

Is there a place where I can find the correct plug after the butterfly valve comes out? Whats the best way to prevent leaks?....

Easiest to do with the turbo out, specially for plugging the hole.
I got the plug at o-riylies, however you spell it.

3/4's I think. or 15mm. I can't remember.
I know 3/4's was one of the measurements.

I used the vice to press mine in, it didn't go in easily.

How to get it out when the turbo is in the truck, I have no idea.
I took mine out by cutting the rivets out, and removing the system. It is re-installable. Well, cept for the pedestal not having the actuator any longer either.

I'll see if i can get my article finished and posted here in the next 2 days for you, see if that helps any.

I also think that I might have the same oil leak in the turbo due to the grey smoke, would this be the best time to take apart the turbo?

Wouldn't hurt if you got a spare vehicle.

I wouldn't' tear it apart per say. Just check it over. It's kinda a PITA to tear apart and mess with. Chances it wont seal up right when you put it back together.

You can take the exhaust housing off and check the exhaust side of the turbo easily. The intake side is harder to take off unless you have an o-ring on it.
I wouldn't' tear it down any further than that.

With the exhaust side tore down, the EPBV delete would be a breeze. Just take the rivets off, and slide the rod out. Plug the hole, and your done. Thats all I did.

But I would take it out and check it. easier to do the EBPV delete, and you can weld up your pedestal while your at it as well.

This is good opportunity to do a few things, like down pipe, if you don't have one.
Make sure to get new pedestal o-rings if you take the turbo out as well. They will look like pancake rings.

In the third pic, was the tube looking piece on the right cut out than was everything else plugged with weld?

Yea. I cut everything off with an angle grinder. Then used a sanding style grinding wheel to clean everything up.

I don't want to post all my pictures here when they are going on my website as well.

I mig welded over the holes in my ebpv instead of using the plugs. I was too worried about the plugs falling out or rusting. I tiged the pedestal just like you did and it's been working great.
You should have used that high temp exhaust paint from Eastwood on it all. I've been using that stuff for years on old cars I restored and it never seems to come off. It's holding up as expected on the turbo too.

The black held up great, but the blue looks so nasty after you finally get the turbo in there. Just no way to keep it clean on install. haha.

If you have access to a portable band saw it works excellent to cut it off.
