I'm rebuilding my turbo and doing a ebpv delete because of it leaking oil. I'm going to order from Riffraff Diesel the non ebpv pedestal and high flow outlet. My question is on their Web site they talk about a ebpv pedestal actuator isolator pigtail, is that needed because it's out of stock? Or is there another option? What does the pigtail actually do? Your help is greatly appreciated Thanksappreciated. Thanks in advance.
It's meant to "replace" the EBPV with a dummy resistor, so you don't get a SES or check engine light. I think it's a 410k ohm resistor, but I don't remember exactly. Somebody here will pipe up.
I didn't need it on my e99, as I never got a check engine light but I did have the code. I eventually installed the resistor, but it didn't seem to make a difference. You won't need it to complete the work, and I don't think running without it will cause any harm.
The EBPV is helpful for running in cold temps in the winter, and might minimize some cold temp smoke. I just let mine idle to warm up before I go here in PA winters. Whether this is helpful or needed in MO, I can't answer.
All it does is prevent a soft code because of the missing solenoid in the pedestal. You can also pull the solenoid out of the old pedestal and just leave it plugged in to the harness to prevent the code, but it doesn't really matter. It shouldn't light up the MIL.
Thanks for the fast reply. I guess I should have said it's on a 2001 f250. If that matters. Good idea about plugging into to old one. I will give that a try. Thanks again
Ahh, same here. I thought maybe you were a Boeing guy (my buddy worked on the 787). I go to Israel for work every few years, and if possible I try for a 747 if I can find one.
