I had the rubber coated plug wires but it's a pain in the *** to get them on the boots at the manifold. Shop called yesterday and told me the cats are plugged. They told me their exhaust shop could put straight pipe in there for $255 which seems expensive like everything else they have done. I called my exhaust guy and he said they should be able to do it cheaper then that.
Picked up the truck and it still has a miss to it. The exhaust is off right now and i dropped it off at the exhaust shop to get the cats removed. I could hear it coming from the drivers side through the manifold. For $766 it better be running or its going back. Check engine light came on when i was driving but it might be because the exhaust isn't going past the oxygen sensor.
The shop i took it to were idiots. Told me there was still a miss and it might not be able to be fixed. My cap and rotor got messed up because i only had 1 bolt in the collar so instead of them getting a new one they stuck some old piece of **** that was all burnt and dirty and the rotor was bent and it was spark knocking. They wanted $225 to replace the cats with straight pipe. Took it to my guy and got the whole exhaust done for $200. Cost me $20 more because they broke 3 of my manifold bolts. So it runs better than it did but still runs like ****. Check engine light comes on and goes off randomly. Chugs real bad with lower rpms but gets a little better over 1500. Gonna try swapping the ignition module and coil back to the old ones when i get a cooler day. Too hot to be outside today.
-_- omg
wtf i just dont get it.
so it has no cats and it runs like crap?
i thought u said they found two injectors were bad?
dude did u get the compression checked?
if nothing is working out, u might have a dead cylinder.
They told me they did a compression test. Didnt tell me what they got so it must have been fine. My guess is i have another bad injector. I have a new one i bought a couple weeks ago. I'll have to try it out on Sunday. When the exhaust was off it sounded like it was the drivers side that was missing. They replaced the #5 injector so i will try it on the other cylinders i guess. Put the old ignition module, msd coil, and msd box back on it today and it still runs the same. I'm driving it to work. It's not too bad on the freeway as long as i keep the rpms over 1500. It's sucking down the gas though. From what i could tell i'm only getting about 6mpg.
I've checked the codes and they havent told me anything useful. Gapped the plugs today because the shop didnt do that either. I asked the guy if they checked the gap on the plugs and he told me yes. I only gapped them to .45 when i put them in because that was the widest gauge i had. I opened them up a little more today and seemed to help just a little. All the plugs looked ok. A few of them were carboned up but it wasnt bad. It's still running rich and i cant figure out why. When i punch the gas i get some black smoke.
