If the plug is wet its not firing , replace the plug & wire ....Lew
not necessarily. If the plug and wire are still good replacing them will not solve the problem. But hey it's a damn spark plug just replace it lol. He's having trouble maintaining spark to one of his cylinders.
Well i would ask him to check the spark at the plug , but i know he won't do that i know hes having problems with one of the cylinders not firing , he found the cylinder , what do you suggest...Lew
Well if he wasn't afraid of puling the plug wires he could just move the plug & wire to the next cylinder & see if the miss follows to that cylinder ., thats trouble shooting,,,,
yeah were gonna have to convince him. You think some working gloves (not latex lol) will protect him a bit in case of a little accident?
Dan trust us just be careful and do the "If its missing just start pulling plug wires off tell you pull one that makes no difference in the way it runs, good place to start" process. It's the only way we can continue to help you with your current issues.
Some confidence & insulated plug pliers will do the trick , if he has a timing light ? he could hook that to the wire to see if the wire is firing but that wont rule out the plug
I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires after it started running bad and it didn't make a difference. I'm not really afraid of getting shocked too much. Just would rather not. I'll take one of my plugs and put it on the wire to see if it's firing.
Tried a plug on the wire i thought wasn't firing and it is. Tried the wire next to it and got the same spark. It wasn't a real bright spark so i'm thinking the spark isn't good enough. Would that probably be the module in the coil. I'm sure it's the original. It seems to not run as bad when i first start it then it start missing worse as it warms up in a couple minutes.
As my first post says... I had a little weak spark going to #1 and #2 and it wasn't enough for combustion. I had major misfiring. Engine shaked violently. I replaced my pick-up coil and bam! It did the trick. What's your mileage on the truck? Yeah those things don't get changed until they go out. Does your check engine light up?
A little difficult. :/ I took mine to my friends shop. The part is not too expensive about $30 but the work is a little tough. You have to open up your distributor to be able to access the part. But I really suggest that you try and test another used distributor because when you open up your current one, the o rings will crack because of all the heat and the age. It happened to mine.
