It does have it. It's just remotely mounted. It's on your right fender under the cruise control box. It's either gray or black. But I don't think it would be causing this. It either works or it doesn't.
I found it. That might be the problem. I've had them go bad on a couple other trucks. One just died the other one missed and ran bad. I'm guessing i need a special socket to get it off the mount since the holes are so small and a regular socket dosent fit in there.
Check engine light only comes on once in awhile. I checked the codes a couple times so far. Gave me a map sensor code the first time on koeo. Gave me a tps code for both tests the second time thats why i replaced it.
let's just hope that is the problem, and yes you need a special socket. Trial and error buddy that's the only way your going to find your problem. I hope your not on a budget cause if your not I would replace the TFI and MAP. Also if your getting fuel and spark and still missing, you might be looking at a dead cylinder. Any history on this truck? Abuse, racing, towing?
Truck hasnt been abused at all. It was my friends truck. He put a new motor in it and drove it to work for a little while till he started having kids and switched jobs. I drove it pretty much one of the last times a few years ago and it sat at his house since till i bought it recently. Ran great till this problem started. I'm gonna try the tfi module tomorrow after i get paid and if that dont work im just gonna drop it off at a shop. There is not much more i can do myself. Already spent alot of money on parts i didnt need. Trying to get one of my mechanic friends to come over but havent heard back from them.
Oh that pisses me off. I have plenty of friends that are mechanics and I call one and he tells me okay i'll check it out later... he either forgets or gets lazy. You know with the pick-up coil problem I had my mechanic friend and I spent two hours until he said you know what let's change that, and it was. But I was also forced to replace all my sensors and to buy new plugs when the ones it had were replaced like a week ago. It was the worst moment of my life but after it ran smooth again I felt much better. Good luck buddy.
Replaced the ignition module today and now i have no spark at all. The truck was giving me problems yesterday starting but it eventually started. I switched back to the old module but still nothing. Took the msd box off and still nothing. It started having problems starting yesterday when i was messing with the msd box but it started a few minutes later. Now i have no spark at all.
YOU DON'T HAVE SPARK?
what the heck... I don't know if I mentioned it before but have you changed the ignition coil? I'm sorry if I asked already but I didn't feel like looking.
Sorry for the late response buddy. I had to go and I stayed online. Anyways I think I mentioned before if not on this thread that a ignition coil starts to act up usually when warm but not always the case. That could be the culprit for no spark at all. Test the coil for spark itself. I'm sorry if i'm making you spend but it's a trial and error. It goes for everyone.
And the rectangular plug with two wires i think... below the ignition coil is plugged in correctly right? If so then you might be looking at your solution... a bad ignition coil.
Yeah it's plugged in. Like i said i had problems starting it after i took off the msd box yesterday but then it started. Tried it again today after replacing the ignition module and it stumbled once and had no spark. I'll pick up a coil tomorrow and try it. This thing is killing my wallet. Probably spent $300 so far.
