I'd like to find the wire so I can do some prevenitive taping to keep it from wearing out and shorting. Can you help me firgure out hoe to find that wire. It's hard to tell from a picture so small. I can't even see the battery in his pictures. Is the wire close to the firewall. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike
This thread is for a 2003, and since that was an update year it is possible it is not the same as the 99.

Thanks for the info. So it sounds like it's just a 2003 issue. I think I will look at all my wires to see if there is any creative taping required. Thanks again!

Question same issue different year

Hi I have a 2000 ford expedition 5.4 v8 it has been rough idle for over a month or two then finally got to the point in the early mornings or once car has sat it revs up and down in rpms until sputtering off gave us a too lean code fixed that by replacing a few parts including filter and maf sensor now it still idles bad/rough and revs up and down in rpms but lean code was gone, and battery wouldn't hold charge we tested alternator tested fine battery did not so we replaced battery but p0320 code still present I see that some of you have had the same issue and replaced or fixed the alternator harness and it seemed to work could you point me in the right direction in where the location on my ford expediton yr 2000 would be ?and if that isn't it what should I test next? crankshaft? we did an oem reading and the crankshaft tested ok .... any suggestions ......

The harness crosses over an a/c line and then plugs in right at the bottom of the battery tray. Just take a look at the pictures on page one of this thread.

Has any one been able to find the harness lately? I guess it’s been out of production since 2017.

If you really need the plug you can still get it, but you'll have to make up the rest of the harness yourself or go find one in a junkyard.
