This is a really basic question I know but I cant find the info. I took the valve body out of my C6 to flip the linkage over for a different model. In the process I puled the filter to clean it. When I did the spring that is held into the valve body and the small metal piece on top of the spring fell out. I have both of these pieces but it seems like there should be a small rod or something on top of the small metal cap going into the valve body. Am I missing a piece or is it only the metal cap and the spring with the spring being on the bottom? THe trans was originally from a 78 LTD with a 351w. I want to make sure before I refill it. Thanks
I just took the valve body out of my 74 C6 to replace the seal that goes around the shifter arm, i did not have a loose spring when i removed mine. I was expecting things to go flying. I did find two pieces of metal in the filter area i was not expecting to see.
the spring and the small metal piece are actually held in by a tab on the filter assembly. I need to know if these are the only two pieces held in by the tab.

Yea you have a C4, the filter holds them into the valve body, puck, spring, filter.
