How about linking to the eBay sale. Some dealerships do sell on eBay, Tasca as an example, so we can't just kill everything eBay.

There have been a number of people who have chem flushed and installed new dealer oil coolers and have them clog, so it's not an unfamiliar situation. But with it, there are large particles that clog the intake which can be backflushed out to some extent done well.

Yeah but now you see my coolant temps have never reached over 208 so I don’t really think my cooler is the issue. Has a new thermostat to of course and I’ve never heard my fan ever kick on also installed the all aluminum BPD water pump. I guess just to say so maybe I’ll order a new oil cooler from the dealer and just have that idea solved but now isn’t the time for me to install another cooler lol.

I agree Jack, but most (if not all) of the dealerships selling on ebay list as "buy it now", not bidding ...........................

Poor oil cooler performance has little to do w/ coolant temperature. The particles broken free during a coolant system flush plug the coolant passageways in the oil cooler. For the most part, the radiator doesn't get clogged as easily.

Mark, when someone says "bid" on eBay, I never take them literally. Just me. Still want to see the source.

You got my second comment covered.

Here is one (of three) w/ essentially the same picture. One out of 16 feedback comments indicates the same issue.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Design-FORD-ORIGINAL-ENGINE-OIL-COOLER-6-0-Diesel-Service-Kit-3C3Z-6A642-CA/202698595117?epid=1911116172&hash=item2f31c71b2d:g tcAAOSwoMlcX1YP#rwid

"Had it on my truck for a week on old oil cooler hottest EOT got was 230F after one week of having it on my truck my EOT got all the way up to 260F oil got so hot it ended up burning out a bearing in my motor complete junk do not recommend."

That is why we are being so careful!!!

Oh wow... man I don’t know, that’s crazy! Thank you for the info. The first oil cooler I put in it was actually a dealer bought cooler now that I think about it and now with this second cooler and new water pump and high flow filter the temps are still the same as they were with the first cooler.

Come on, every friggin picture of a Motorcraft oil cooler box is going to look the same.

But you can still have an issue with new dealer stock getting caught with debris. The very best example is when I worked with Karl long ago, but we've seen it with pre-flushing as well. I can't make that review a 100% issue pinpointing it as a bogus cooler.

The other guy has tons of Ford parts on eBay. Yep, he, like the first, can be shipping in offshore. However, I used to buy a lot of Motorcraft parts from a guy in CT who worked in the parts dept at a Ford dealership. I talked to him a lot, he was legit. Until his manager said no more. It may be real, it maybe not.

But agreed, without having detailed knowledge of the seller, I go to the Ford sources.

Yeah, I'm in a mood again today......

The point was really that ANY seller is FULLY capable of making the product look like a real OEM part. Many people are fooled by the "presentation" and the claims made in advertising. Nothing more than that. Without the 6.0L forums, who would know how bad a knock-off cooler might perform!

No doubt a clean system is critical, but so is buying the proper part. You stated that you need to know the seller. That is my simple point as well ....................... Even if you think that you know the seller, an individual (IMO anyway) is much more likely to be selling a knock-off under the guise of an OEM (knowingly or unknowingly) than a dealership or a well-known seller (like XDP).

No where did I say to avoid all Ebay purchases. That is a big stretch (IMO anyway) to infer that from my posts. I suppose others may think that that is what I was saying, but it wasn't. I also think that saying "I bid on something" is QUITE different from bidding on it - but as you said - "That is just me". Communication isn't always clear on the internet.

btw - My caution to "be careful" includes installation methods, as well as ensuring that the system is clean, as you have so appropriately mentioned!

Here is another indicator (IMO) that sets off my warning bells .....

Three different sellers, but the EXACT 16 reviews (including the exact wording in the one negative review). I can't think of a single positive reason for this.

seller - casmo747

seller - jac1400

I was about to go in and redo the post Mark.

I can't say if that guy is legit on eBay since I never talked to him, he has stacks of parts. But it comes down to know your seller. Not are all bad.

The product ratings are not geared to a seller, but to a product.

I hear ya, but three different sellers and ALL of the feedback is exactly the same wording. How does that happen. When I give feedback on a product I bought on Ebay, it only shows up with the seller I purchased it from. It doesn't go into a "pool" of feedback on that specific product that might appear with different sellers - at least not that I know of. Just something that bothers me when I see it.
