straight pipe

I have a cat-back exhaust with both of my cats, no muffler and duals out the back with 3x18in tips. Sounds pretty good. Sounds nice and deep at idle and has a good sound when I rev it. I like it.

Hey guys,

I am having the same problem, i just had my exhaust done on my 95 shortbox 5 speed, currently no mufflers and both cats. Y - piped into dual 2.5s out the sides. Sounds like a hoover accelerating but really crackles when i down shift. I am thinking about taking the cats off this summer and running it through a single 18 inch glasspack hooked back up to the Y. I figure one glasspack has gotta be louder than two - but who knows its an art making the BIG 6 sound mean.

Ok. I don't now why people sais that they have more power.

tell you what,

I've removed the Cat. it is fully strai Pipe. My mufler is a Brulen performance , you can see trough the mufler. it is straith. I'm single pipe to the muffler and then it split on 2 pipes.

so right now. I'm fully strait Pipe. And ****. I like the sound. but damn I got no more power on top speed.

Before I did that , I could go a 180 KM/H on highway. Right now I'm very lucky to get 140KM/H. and if I'm in a hill. forget it. you won't reach 140KM/H.

I think the reason might be
1. not enouph back pressure
2. The oxygen sensor is not reading correctly cause there is no
CAt anymore.

But I lost alot of power since I did it. I've change a lot of things just to make shure it was the cause. I've changed air filter, plugs, rotor, timing cap, wires. Nothing changed.

So I think it's not the right thing to do. And anyways the sound is not that loud either. Save your money for something else.

I only have single exhaust, but I yanked my cat in December, and replaced it with a straight pipe... I`ll get sound clips next nice day and pictures. Although I just micky moused the pipe, as I didn`t have access to a welder at the time. My truck is emissions exempt, so I dont have to bother with Cats, and other emissions crap.

Sounds okay without a muffler, just more noise than tone. I have a video or two on my YouTube of my truck with no muffler. Yuck.

Note;

With both cats and my flowmaster, it's still loud in the cab. Adding pipe makes it as quiet as stock. Happy medium anywhere? Good luck finding it. If I were to go on a long trip I would put a temp. tail pipe on it to save myself some headaches. :P
