ok my truck already has split manifolds so i figured why not dual out the side in front of the rear tire would that sound good and look good? please help
What does "sound good" and "look good" mean? That is like asking how high is up. The sound is in the ears of the beholder. The looks in the eyes of the beholder.
There are over 400 pages on this Forum and just about every one of them has one or more postings on this kind of question. Settle in and do a lot of reading.
My new setup is in my sig. If you want looks, look through my youtube. I had a sweet looking exhaust setup. Still have the Y PIPE and GLASS PACKS if you want to buy them.
My new setup sounds much better though. Just grap a Flowmaster with no pipes.
sorry but that sounds like a rice burner. i had a regular 40 and it sounded exactly like that.
Sorry but you're wrong. I guess you'd have to hear it in person. I haven't heard any other 4.9 that I think sounds better. And mine puts out zero ricer noise. I'd like to hear one of your sound clips??
The funny thing is it was only $130 and I slapped it on my cat in no time. My other setup was twice as much and a pain to put on. Ha ha..
dont dual an inline 6!!!! you need back pressure.. straight pipe.. 1 cat and a gutted glasspack.. its a beast.. but make sure it doesnt dump out under your cab. its loud
The deplorable "needs back pressure" myth was debunked way back in the last century. To retain good scavaging (opposite of back pressure) don't use large pipes. 2 1/4 should be fine.

2 1/4 is what I had. I didn't realize how much power taking off the stock muffler gave me untill I put a muffler back on it. O_o\
Unless it's an odd coinkadink and something gave out on my motor and I just don't know it yet. <_<
lemme find a good soundclip and prove to u. all flowmasters on these inline 6s have an inherent drone and ricer rasp. i didnt notice it until i heard mine being driven by my dad. then another fella i went to school with had a super 40 on his and it was awful sounding.
i have had to many different exhaust set ups on my truck to even count. the only style muffler i havent tried yet was a cheap turbo muffler. i had all of these except the magnaflow in dumped and tail pipe set ups.
Flowmaster 40 series
Glasspacks (various lenghts)
No mufflers
Magnaflow (best sound and performance)
