I think there may have been some confusion with the directions.
So just to clarify, does the BB go between the tappet and the spring?
That's what I did a year ago. It went from 55 psi to 66 psi, so I'm assumming I did it right.
But over the phone it sounded like Jacob may have misunderstood where the BB goes.
Thats exactly the way I understand it, but it sounded like he took the cap off, then the spring, then the tappet, put the BB in the hole where the tappet was, and then put the tappet back in followed by the spring and cap.
I did this mod on my truck because my pressure was only 35 but the BB only got me up to 55. So I used a #4 machine screw and two brass nuts and grounded them down to fit into the tappet and now it's adjustable and I have mine set to 70psi.
Good job, you have a creative mind.. Somewhere there are instructions on how to do just that but for the life of me I couldn't find them.
Glad that it worked out for you.

Reason: spelling
I remember seeing the instructions for the adjustable FPR shim. I was planning to do that at some point later down the road, but mine was at 65psi with the BB so I was ok.
i just shimmed mine from 49 to 72 psi at idle. If 80 is the max should I be worried about the pressure above idle? In other words, should I check at say 2,400-2,500 rpm where it would be running going 75 mph down the interstate? Would that put me over the 80 psi?
I can say it runs much smoother and more responsive.
