I read some in the other post but none say what exactly what needs to be done or if the torque specs are the same or not. Can't wait to add all my power mods
Read the sticky at the top of the forum, entitled: Tips/tricks.
The chevy rockers are 1.7 or 1.73 ratio. That moves the p.rod closer to the valve, and unless you have the slotted p.rod opening type, then it could rub. You are changing the geometry of the v.train.
But beware, you might actually have to spend $2. Maybe you can find some in a j/y and save fifty cents.
An 86 may have the sled style rocker, like the 351C&M and 429/460. I'm sure someone has the info on how to tell before you pull the valve cover.
This is what those 1.75 rockers fit.

That's what I'm reading.. and we have pedestal mount heads ya? I wont bother with it now if that's the case. I'll just wait until I do another build for all dat.

If you've got money you could have the head machined for studs.
We did the chevy rocker are swap on my sons truck. We bought new lock nuts and added a washer between the fulcrum and the lock nut. As for adjustment, we followed the book for a starting point. After that I ran the rockers to zero lash and then added a 1/4 quarter turn tighter. Seems to run fine in our case. Granted we have no miles on it. We are working on other non engine related issues now.
