High center of gravity and short wheel base, does make them to roll more than a lower center of gravity car or truck with longer wheel base.

Just have to learn HOW to drive them and not make fast turns. My wife almost rolled our B2, had it on two wheels and she learned not to do that hard fast turn again!

You could put in a explorer axle as the B2 has the spring mounts on top of axle and the explorer has the springs mounted under the axle(it would drop the rear end about 4") but you run into more problems likely.

Yes they can flip, but so can everything else. It is not a car it is a short narrow SUV, and should be driven as such. I have one, off road only now, and used to drive it everyday even on the interstate with a 4" lift and 33" tires without swaybars. Never even came close to flipping or rolling.

I haven't had mine sideways yet, but I'm sure they could. All I know is that I love to drive mine.

I owned one bought new for 12 years. It was a 4X4. Drove it hard with a lot of mountain driving. It was pretty stable. The reputation about them flipping was more about the 2 wheel drive version.

I have an 89 4x4 with 235/15 tires on it. I have really horsed it around some twisty 2 lane roads and have never came close to losing control.

The most important thing is to not swerve at high speeds, many times it is better to hit something like a deer and to avoid going around icy corners fast. The latter is what usually flips a B2, CJ7, or Wrangler. Sliding sideways on ice and then hitting dry pavement. I sold a kid a CJ-7 and after his second time of flipping it I suggested to the father he not repair it and to put his son into a full sized car before he killed himself. A few years later I met the father again and he thanked me for the advice.

I have a B2 with D35 and 8.8 out of a 91 Explorer running 33 by 12.50, 3 inch JD suspension system and it feels pretty stable. The best advice I can offer is what the other fellas have said--drive safe and drive smart--ANYTHING can flip if you are careless and or reckless.

The characteristics of the BII (short wheel base, narrow track, high COG) all contribute to the possibility of losing control and flipping. So does the suspension (I'll have to find the article on that). Best thing to do is to be aware of the limitations of the BII and drive within them. I have different offset/backspace wheels on mine, and my track is a little wider, but I've still come close to flopping and losing control due to the (mostly) stock suspension... the almost losing control situation happened on a back road that I was driving a little too fast down... didn't see the dips in the road until it was almost too late

I have had a B2 since 86 and haven't flipped it YET.
As a note though, in all the times I have been in wrecking yards, I have only seen 2 that appeared to have been flipped, crushed roof and such. Normally, they appear to have been rolled down embankments (dirt and mud inside the cab).
I am not saying they won't flip, I am sure they will, but if you drive with common sense as your guide, you shouldn't have any problem.

NOT !

Between 1986 and 1992 I bought probably two dozen BR II's that were salvaged and repaired them. All but a couple were roll overs. Only had one that was a 4x2. I had a heck of a time finding top/tail clips for them when I first started. That being said, I drove many a mile in one, put my wife and kids in one, and we never came close to rolling one. Those rollers were undoubtedly due to the drivers not knowing how to drive a high center of gravity vehicle. Run off the road, jerk it back and you're on your head!

had an 88 b2, camper cut off, 31-10.50's, 60mph on dirt road, made a 90 degree left, slipped, slided, fishtailed, was 3sptw, and didn't flip till i hit the bottom of ditch, then it popped both dside tires and laid over. luckily my dumb-*** walked away. soon as i figure it out, i'll put up pics.
