theres a 3/4 in plug right above the schradervalve on your fpr pull off the plug there is a spring and a piece of metal the spring goes into pull both of them and drop a bb in where the sring sits then the spring and screw back in
just like he said unscrew the cover plug and remove the spring then remove the tappet. The tappet is shaped like a elongated triangle with a cupped end. drop a standard BB gun BB in the cup and put the sprin back into the cup. Put the tappet back in. The cover plug has an o-ring on it so be aware of that and there is a point on the inside edge of the cap that the spring sits on make sure you have it seated on the point or you can damage the spring. Once its all assembled check your pressure at the schrader valve and while its running it should haveno more than 80 psi, 70 is ideal 80 max anything more can cause your orings to blow out.
It's best to check your fuel pressure at the schrader valve before preforming the mod just to ascertain that you have low fuel pressure and need to do the mod.
First thing you want to do is take a pressure reading at the schrader valve to determine if in fact you need to increase the fuel pressure. This can be done using a stick tire gauge while the engine is at idle, but a liquid filled 100# gauge is more accurate.
If the reading is below 55# then the pressure can be raised.
1) Spread clean rags around the bottom of the fuel bowl in case you drop any of the innards.
2) There is a large brass plug on the driver's side of the fuel bowl above the schrader valve.
3) Unscrew the plug being careful not to lose the spring. There is a triangular valve inside that the spring slides into.
4) Place a "BB" from a BB gun into the hole in the valve.
5) Place the spring back inside of the valve and slide the valve and spring back into the FPR.
6) Note that there is a "Tit" on the inside center of the brass plug. Make sure that this "Tit" is positioned inside of the center of the spring. It is essential that the spring is kept centered.
7) Apply inward pressure and screw the plug back in by hand making sure that it is NOT CROSS THREADED. Tighten with a wrench.
8) Take another pressure reading with the engine at idle to make sure that you have NOT exceeded 70#
Viola, you have done it.
Now is a good time to remove the top of the fuel filter and clean the screen. Inside the bowl there is a hole on the drivers' side. remove the filter and you will be able to look into this hole. More than not there will be an accumulation of crud covering the screen.
To clean the screen: Take a Q-Tip, remove the cotton and GENTLY scrape the crud away. Open the yellow drain lever on the Passenger side of the bowl and drain the bowl. Replace the filter, fill the bowl with clean fuel, ATF etc, replace the lid and you're done.
If your fuel pressure is running on the low side, which can happen over time, it adjusts it back within limits. There is no other way that I am aware of to adjust the fuel pressure.
