Sounds like it will be a pretty fun process. If it's a custom, then yes, I would figure that there would be NO a/c in the truck. You might also want to start looking for some dynamat, or cheap knockoffs. The customs are much louder inside as well. Why is it that you have to tow it home?
These are just a couple that I am looking at. Just the very prelim looking. I am not looking at these particular carbs, just the models I guess. Any other suggestions would be helpful.
Brakes need to be fixed and too much of hassle to go to the dmv to get it home. Wont be driving it for a couple months at least. Good suggestion. I heard of people using the thin insulation you can get a lowes.
@Josiah If thats going on your 300 i would go with the truck avenger. You'll get the secondaries opening feel when you step on it. Both are good choices.
I was told that the holley 390 was good too. Looking for performance, off-road, and price friendly, haha. Obviously not the easiest combination to find.
I've always liked the extra oomph that a 4 barrel gives you. The truck avenger series is probably a waste of money unless you are planning on using the truck for extreme trail riding. I expect Aaron will be able to give you better advice.

I guess it's for the best to tow it home then. What all needs done on the brakes? I HATE the DMV, haha. It's just a horrible place to have to deal with. Just aweful. Kinda like this...
I do a pretty decent amount of wheeling with my truck, and once out to CO, I will probably be doing more of it. The trails that I have been on here kill my truck. I'm not sure if it's the carb design itself, or if it's just that bad off and needs rebuilt. I don't know how much of a difference that would make. I also don't know if one of the other street carbs would still be adequate for what I do. All I know is that the truck dies when wheeling(ie. rocking back and forth on rocks, feathering the pedal, and some hill ascent and decent.)
Possibly, I have never priced it out. But you certainly wouldn't have the hesitation issues when wheeling. Probably too expensive, but figured I would throw it out there.
It would limit the power too if I remember correctly. I was told you can do a lot more to a carbureted engine than to an EFI system, as far as power upgrades are concerned. More bang for your buck if you will. I think $1000 bucks of well placed money gets me about 50hp more than what I have and right around that for torque. I'd have to look up some of the builds the I6 guys were doing on here. I think that was all pretty much external stuff(intake, exhaust manifold, carb, exhaust, and maybe the cam)
haha, I realize this...that's why I said "pretty much" and then added the cam to the end of the list. Thanks for catching that though Greg. I'll be needing yours and aaron's assistance on all the installation anyway, haha. Hopefully it will be raining!
Most of the stuff they do for the 300 is intake, carb, exhaust. I've heard the heads are really restrictive and could use a good port and polish. I'd say the truck avenger with those should work well in your situation.
If you wanted to do efi. Grab the efi system of a junkyard 4.9. Splice the harness in or get rid of all the crap and use megasquirt. I always wanted to try the megasquirt. You can get it so it plug into the stock ecu cable now. DMV is a pain! I got there early when i got my permit and didn't even have to wait in line. But, damn the registration line was already filled the second it opened up.
