10-4....I persued a little a while back but got sidetracked. Even had the part number ..!! Lost it now.
No one could tell me if would be a direct bolt on upgrade ? I'm all for less rotating mass and possibly less fan noise...Lighter fan would take less HP to drive !! More HP for the rear wheels..IMO anyway.,

Thinkin like a fellow drag racer there with the HP comment! I bet if you did some searching you could find an elec fan that would work and keep it cool. These trucks have a real good cooling system. Do you have any problems staying cool now with the factory setup when you are towing?

Yep...lots of "free HP" out there !! I just don't want to give up reliability as well. Sure you know what I mean !! I have NO problems with my cooling system...I lost a water pump @ about 75K and then AC compressor at 80K. I was told the fan clutch was locked and contributed to failure. Maybe so ? If fan wasn't so heavy it may have lived? I have saw several elct. fan systems for F-250's.....just mfg didn't reccomend for diesel applications..Besides it wound add to load on elctrical system to run them..more HP to run alternator..
My next upgrade will be a coolant filter..

Talking

If I recall correctly there are no electric fans on the market that move the same volume of air that the OEM fan does.. That being said, that does not mean that an Electric fan (s) can't come close and get the job done without any adverse effects.

I believe Diesle Power mag did an electric conversion on a ford but can't remember if it was a powerstroke or idi. Might of been the last previous issue before the current one now. I would have to look at it agian.

My opinion is to go with the Tru-Cool and be done with it. It is a great upgrade from the original toy cooler we have.

Ok fellers, question for you all.
My SD had the stock trans cooler in it (tiny little bugger, no cooler in the rad). My OBS has a large aftermarket cooler (not 6.0 large but good sized) and has the cooler in the rad. The OBS runs a fair bit hotter trans temp than my SD did. Pulling a light load a few weeks back it peaked at 200°, and will typically run about 20° or so hotter than the SD did. Should I be worried or not? I have a 6.0 cooler I could install if need be, but since it already has a good sized cooler in there I'm not sure how much difference it would make.

Diesel Power did a dual electric fan install on a Superduty this issue. Won't fit the OBS trucks without modification, but if you use dual high output fans and a shroud you should be fine.
There are guys who take off their fans in the winter and don't overheat at all.

Well I made the 75 mile trip to get my race car today. Temps were HOT ! Mid to upper 90's !! Even with my truck camper,26' enclosed trailer, and 4,000# car inside the trans temps never got over 180 degrees with the Thermo bypass REMOVED from TruCool Max! With it..constant 200-215 degrees. Had to be a restriction.
All said and done my 4590 true cool was about the same..but smaller ??
True test will be PA TPK where it hit 205-210 last year....Guess Dale @ Tymar knows something ..
