Well, in that case, I do have something there that's not stock.
LOL, haha, I can be so forgetful sometimes. I work with a kid that has a stroker w/ an E4OD, I simply could have looked at his. LOL.

Big white you might want to look into this set up. http://www.roscommonequipmentcenter....notes/nn15.pdf
I'm thinking of adding the Flex-a-Lite
model #45951 cooler after my tru cool max, maybe on the frame and run it straight to the trans. I pull a travel trailer that weights ULW of 7500#'s. And my trans runs at 200 with the tru cool on the freeway. It got real hot pullin the 168 out of fresno ca. It gets to about 6500 elev in about 10 miles.
FYI Mark the tranny guy on here answered a thread I made a while ago and said you can run up to 220 all day long and up to 250 for less than 30 minutes at a time and cause no damage. He knows what he's talking about. I just made a trip this weekend with m 48' gooseneck loaded with two cars, four wheeler, tools, etc... Temps outside around 90. Temps on the tranny never got above 200. I was real happy.
I have a flex fan on my tranny cooler already, I just want a little cooler temps. I am going to get the Tru-cool when I get my OT check this month. Another question do I absolutely need the thermal bypass, or is that for extremely cold climates?
pigfarmerdk1:
I have read the link that you provided and although I agree with most of it there are parts that are concerning.
#1)
In fig 10 there is a "Bolt" depicted that contains a check ball and spring.
If you were to change the tranny (E4OD) 5/16" cooler lines to 3/8" lines you would need to utilize this bolt from a 4R100 depicted in fig #10. What is not shown in the pix is that on the head of that bolt is a 3/8" female flare fitting that the cooler pressure line attaches too.
Their claim is to do away with the bypass tube and replace this "Collared" tube with a spacer, that's OK. Then, grind off the tip so that the check ball and spring can be removed. If you do this then the ATF inside the tranny (E4OD) will gravitate and will all drain into the tranny pan. Not good.
#2)
ATF manufactures claim that ATF fluid is good for 100,000 miles at 175*, but for every 20* above 175* it cuts the fluid life in half to 50,000 miles. Add another 20* (195*) and now the fluid is only good for 25,000 miles. Another 20* (215*) and it's only good for 12,500 miles., and so on.
Based on this equation, if you do a whole lot of heavy hauling then about every other oil change you will need to change your tranny fluid. This in direct conflict with what Mark Kovolski (sic) has been telling us and I for one put more credence on Mark than I do an ATF manufacture that's number one concern is to sell ATF fluid. jmho

Reason: spelling and missing words
I disagree with a lot of what that fire service wrote. The biggest one is removing the bypass. It isn't there to help warm the trans, it is there to provide lubrication to the trans if the cooler circuit were to get blocked.
If something happens that plugs the cooler or kinks a hose the first indication without the bypass installed is that you need a new transmission. If you have a bypass the trans will get hot before getting damaged so you can stop before destroying it.
It's tight but it will fit. Some put in front of IC, I put it behind, seems to work fine, my trans temp maxxed at 200 this weekend pulling my 48' trailer loaded. 90* outside.
Anyone have a problem making it fit if your running an I/C?

thanks. i think it should still fit with my set up. theres not much room as i have a f600 four core radiator, I/C, and reese hitch up front but i might try it out. if not ill just duck tape it to the hood lol.
