I picked up a 2000 excursion today and I'm finding some strange problems. The ac stays on when I turn the ignition off. The window switches are also staying hot with the ignition off. Bad ignition? Bad fuses?
you may have a bad ignition switch, there are multible switches build into the ign switch, one may be stuck, disconnect the plug that goes into the ign switch, and see if the a/c turns off.also you could have a stuck a/c relay too, unplug the a/c relay, normally its under the hood.
Went out this morniung and the radio was on. Almost like the ignition is staying in accessory mode, but I don't know why hte radio would turn itself on.
The windows and radio are designed to work for 10 min after the key is turned off(or until you open a door)
Are the running board lights on? Any lights on in the dash? Any other features working?
The truck can sit for hours and I can still operate the windows without turning the ignition. No other features working with the ignition off. I located the fuse for the power windows, it was very hot to the touch.
Don't know if this helps. I had something like this myself, and after reading pretty much all I could on this site I figured it out. My front windshield was leaking and was getting the computer inside wet. Every time it rained I had a dead battery from this. Could be something like this. May not be a leaky windshield but worth a look. My radio would stay on ,but not work anytime but when in park. The heater would come on and stay on. Accessories would also. Usually until everything completely dried out. Maybe this happened enough in the past that the computer has an issue.
